It may have not actually seen that important to many Viking fans, but for the Vikings management the relationship between Mike Zimmer and Adrian Peterson ended up paying dividends. Reports coming out from the Vikings training camp indicates that the 2012 NFLs Most Valuable Player will be returning for the Vikings in his well known number 28 uniform and all that has to do a lot with the relationship he managed to have with one of the teammates during his time at the Vikings.
Regardless of what reservation Peter had on how the Vikings and its COO Kevin Warren, handled him last year, or even how he would be received by Vikings fans when he returns to Minesota with his family, the Vikings believed that they swallowed up by the competitiveness that comes with taking up Peterson. In addition to that, the team also hoped that the respect that Peterson has for Mike Zimmer will also play in their favor. In simple terms, the team does believe that by putting Mike Zimmer and Adrian Peterson together, especially with the two playing football, they believe that everything else will be able to take care of itself.
This might actually turn out not to be true as ESPN.com is reporting that Peterson, when asked if he had actually resolved all the issues that he had raised back in February, said that “I’m returning because I want to. I’m a part of this football team and I owe it to the guys I play with and to our coaches.”
Only time will tell how this partnership will play out once they officially introduce themselves to the fans.
